# Airdress quickstart

An airdress is a permanent address, `<name>.a.airdr.es` or a domain of your
own, with TLS and failover handled for you. This page takes you from an
account to code running behind it, in a few minutes, from a terminal.

**Early access:** Airdress is in early access. Accounts and airdresses are created at
[airdress.co](https://airdress.co); the CLI cannot create either.

1. **Get an account and an airdress**

   Join at [airdress.co](https://airdress.co). Your account lives at
   `account.airdress.co`, and the airdress you claim there is the one the
   CLI works with.

2. **Install the CLI**

   ```sh
   curl -fsSL https://get.airdress.co/cli | sh
   airdress --version
   ```

   A `.deb`, a Windows build and single binaries are on
   [Install the CLI](/cli/install/).

3. **Sign in**

   ```sh
   airdress auth login
   ```

   Your browser opens and asks which account. On a machine without a
   browser, use `airdress auth login --device`.

4. **Pick your airdress**

   ```sh
   airdress airdress list        # the airdresses you own
   airdress a use <name>         # pin one as current
   airdress current              # profile, airdress, and where the choice came from
   ```

5. **See how it is reached**

   ```sh
   airdress airdress probe
   ```

   The probe prints your airdress's address, its IPv4 and IPv6 addresses,
   and whether the hub reached it directly (IPv6 or IPv4) or through the
   relay. The [architecture page](/reference/architecture/) explains the
   difference.

6. **Deploy a function**

   ```sh
   airdress fn new hello ./hello
   airdress fn keygen --out ~/.airdress/function-signing.key
   airdress fn deploy ./hello --signing-key ~/.airdress/function-signing.key
   airdress fn logs hello --follow
   ```

   `deploy` checks the tree, shows what it is about to do, asks once, and
   waits until the function reports the new version loaded.
